Skin & Face Peels

What are Skin Peels and Face Peels?

A skin peel is a chemical process that can transform deep, tired lines and wrinkles, under eye circles, rough and sun-damaged skin to a more beautiful, vibrant and youthful appearance. There are many different types of skin peels offered today, all of which can be light, medium, or deep. A Skin Rejuvenation Peel (SRP) is the deepest skin peel available and offers the most dramatic results, which can last for many years.

Though it is not a surgical process (there is no cutting with a scalpel) skin peels are still invasive, as they penetrate the outer layers of the skin, and should only be performed by a qualified plastic surgeon. A skin peel may be recommended instead of a facelift or after a facelift to improve the skin. A private consultation with Dr. Man will help you decide what procedure is best for you.

CHEMICAL PEELS As we age our skin cells don’t heal and regenerate as quickly as we do so at younger age. As a result of aging our skin turn around time is prolonged, the skin gets thinner, and we develop light, medium and deep wrinkles. We also develop damage from sun exposure, and deep pigmentations, which leave our skin tone uneven, wrinkled, cause lose skin, acne pits or scars; that’s where I, Dr. Daniel Man can offer significant help thanks to my extensive experience in this art of chemical peels. I have developed a specific proprietary chemical peel (SRP). This procedure gives you the best results possible with a chemical peel and is considered to be the gold standard by which all other peels are measured. During the SRP treatment I use combination of chemical peel and a few other methods in order improve your skin of the face, eyelids, mouth, neck chest and hands, by gently removing the damaged layers giving you a new tighter skin without the ravages of aging. The protocol I perform stimulates cell turn over to make you look younger and radiant with thicker, healthier skin. The protocol I perform requires 6 days to complete in order to achieve optimal results. Aging skin with all the ravages of time did not develop over night, but I can assure you that after 6 days your skin will look and feel much younger and will keep looking younger and more vibrant for years. After having done thousands of these procedures, the patients, my staff and myself are always astonished as to how amazing the patients transformation is, many times without cutting at all. What kinds of peels exist? What is the history of chemical peels? For many years we have been using several types of chemical peels. However, many of the next described peels have to be done 4 to 6 times in order to be effective.   1) ALPHA HYDROXY (AHA) PEELS; These are also called Glycolic acid or Carboxylic acid and these are Alpha Hydroxy Acids, usually found in nature (glycolic, citric, lactic, malic and tartaric), these are the mildest type of peel and these can affect fine lines. These peels can affect fine lines, but are also known to have side effects such as redness, stinging, dryness and flaking of the skin. These are also modified and in turn also appear in some of our skin care such as facial wash and various creams as they are used to improve our skin’s texture slowly.   2) BETA HYDROXY (BHA) PEELS; Salicylic acid is an example of a Beta Hydroxy acid peel. These peels can go deeper then AHA peels and affect the skin pore size and decrease the sebaceous glands activity thereby improving and leaving the skin with less clogged pores.   3) JESSNER PEEL Dr Jessner, a German American dermatologist, pioneered this peel; it combines 14 % of each of the following;
  • Salicylic
  • Lactic
  • Resorcinol
This mild peel can help and break the intercellular bridges between the keratinocytes. I use this kind of peel in many instances especially with our DMMD social peel.   4) RETINOIC ACID PEEL; Retinoic acid is made of Retinoid which is a Vit A derivative. It is possible that continuous use of this chemical will lend itself to creating a deeper peel then AHA and BHA. Sometimes it can help with pigmentation issues, and even scars. Some of the side effects such as more flaking skin, creation of abundant new capillaries are annoying to the patient   5) TRICHLOROACETIC ACIC (TCA) PEELS; TCA peels are used as medium base peels, they vary from a concentration of 10-50%. These peels are quiet effective but are also associated with potential scarring, especially if the operator is not well versed in them. These peels have to be repeated in order to improve the results; they may be associated with a full week of recovery before the patient looks better.   6) SKIN REJUVENATION (SRP tm), PHENOL PEEL; Phenol peels are by far the most effective peels; producing the best results provided the operator has the knowledge and the experience in using them properly. I have very extensive knowledge and experience especially with this kind of peel. I have modified it over many years and find it an extremely versatile chemical peel which is used to treat;
  • Aging Skin
  • Deep wrinkles
  • Severe sun damage and precancerous skin
  • Rosacea
  • Severe Melasma
  • Control Acne
  • Reduce size of large pores
  • Tighten loose skin
  • Hormonal skin changes
Our Med Spa successfully treats patients with great superficial  MIRODERMABRASIONS that don’t remove scars but can improve various brown pigmentations, and coarse uneven skin caused by sun damage. During the SRP treatment process I also use DERMABRASION which is certainly stronger, deeper and more effective then MICRODERMABRASION. We also use in our facility FRACTIONATED laser that helps with sun damage, Acne and scarring. The patients usually sign up for a series of 4-5 treatments to get even better results. The nice thing about these fractionated laser treatments is that the patients who sign up for them have no down time. As part of our desire to provide you with the best possible results suited for you, during your consultation with me, we will create the best individualized course of treatment for you. Dr. Daniel Man and his staff will be happy to discuss skin and face peels with you. Please call for a private consultation at 1 ( 888 ) 822 7543 or schedule an appointment online.
