Our skin is a natural focal point for anyone we meet, playing a pivotal role in how we are viewed by those around us. Living with unsightly wrinkles and signs of aging can create an aged appearance that may not match how you feel, however. Thankfully, modern anti-aging treatments provide more options than ever before to help you look younger, refreshed and better than ever.

At the offices of Daniel Man, M.D., Dr. Man is proud to offer FDA-approved Restylane injectable fillers to help his patients strip years off of their appearance. With injectable treatments, facial wrinkles can be reduced or even eliminated completely in just a single 30-minute appointment. With minimal side effects and no side effects, a Restylane treatment may be just what you need for quick, effective and satisfying anti-aging treatment.

How Restylane Works

Restylane products use synthetic non-animal-based hyaluronic acid to restore lost facial volume and rehydrate the skin. Hyaluronic acid is a naturally-occurring substance found in the body that helps transfer nutrients to skin cells while also retaining water. As the body ages, our skin gradually loses its natural supply of hyaluronic acid, causing it to become less hydrated and elastic over time. Restylane restores hydration to the skin by directly supplying hyaluronic acid to where it is needed most.

Aged skin that has lost its hydration and elasticity due to aging and sun damage will appear dull and tired. The folds that naturally form across your face when you smile, laugh and make facial expressions, referred to as dynamic wrinkles, will gradually deepen and become more pronounced. Over time, the repetitive folding and unfolding of your skin can lead to lasting creases that become static wrinkles, meaning the folds are always visible, even on your resting facial expression.

As an injectable filler, Restylane hydrates and smooths the skin by filling in wrinkles to diminish signs of aging.

Good candidates for Restylane are patients interested in:

  • Treating wrinkles and fines lines in the midface
  • Adding or restoring volume to their cheeks
  • Creating fuller and more youthful lips
  • Reducing signs of aging in the back of the hands

Restylane

The original Restylane formula is a versatile injectable filler that can target a wide range of common cosmetic concerns throughout the face, including:

  • Moderate to severe wrinkles in the mid-face
  • Marionette lines around the corners of the mouth
  • Nasolabial folds between the mouth and the nose
  • Fine lines and wrinkles in and around the lips

Restylane lasts about six months on average, with some patients experiencing improvements for up to one full year. Treatment can be repeated as necessary for sustained youthful results.

Restylane Silk

Restylane Silk is the first FDA-approved filler specifically formulated for enhancing lip volume and targeting perioral wrinkles, commonly referred to as smoker’s lines. Restylane Silk is made using smaller, smoother particles of hyaluronic acid for natural, subtle lip enhancement and nonsurgical lip augmentation. If you are interested in fuller, poutier lips or eliminating vertical lip lines around your mouth, Restylane Silk is the solution. Results last about six months to one year.

Restylane Lyft

Restylane Lyft is made with larger and denser hyaluronic acid particles to add volume to and lift the cheeks. By raising the cheeks and restoring volume to the mid-face, Restylane Lyft can eliminate deep wrinkles around the nose and mouth commonly referred to as smile lines. Restylane Lyft can also be injected in the back of the hands to reduce common signs of aging. Along with the face, the hands are one of the most visible areas to show your age. With Restylane Lyft’s unique, strong formula, both areas can be treated in the same appointment to provide comprehensive anti-aging treatment.

As facial tissue continues to lose its elasticity with age, the cheeks can begin to sag, creating under-eye bags and a hollowed, gaunt appearance. Restylane Lyft will restore volume to the cheeks to refresh your appearance and take years of aging off your face. Due to its stronger and denser formula, results typically last at least one full year with a single treatment.

Your Restylane Treatment

During your appointment, Dr. Man will deliver the age-reducing effects of your chosen Restylane product to the targeted area using a series of injections. The product will then be massaged along the wrinkles or skin folds to spread it evenly. Most Restylane products are formulated using lidocaine to ensure a comfortable and pain-free procedure. Dr. Man can also apply ice or a topical anesthetic to the treated area if necessary.

How much product is used and which version of Restylane is best for you will depend on your individual concerns, the depth of your wrinkles and your personal preference. Most Restylane appointments last about 30 minutes.

Following Your Appointment

Following your Restylane appointment, you are free to resume work and all normal activities. Side effects are mild and commonly include swelling, bruising and tenderness. Side effects typically diminish in one week or less, although Restylane Silk side effects may last up to two weeks.

Improvements will be immediately visible, although final results will not completely develop until all swelling and bruising have healed. How long your results will last depends on which Restylane product you choose. Most patients schedule treatments every four to eight months for touch-up appointments to ensure their results are long-lasting. Restylane treatments can be repeated as necessary to help you enjoy your smoother and more youthful appearance for years to come.
