Laser Hair Removal
Epilight is an intense pulsed light system that offers a gentle, non-invasive treatment to remove unwanted hair from the face, back, legs, underarms, and even sensitive areas like the nose, above the lips, ears, chest, and bikini line. Laser hair removal is also excellent for painful ingrown hairs and men’s beards.
How does it work?
Prior to laser hair removal, a cool gel is applied to the area being treated. Next, highly controlled flashes of pulsed light are delivered to the hair follicle, where it is absorbed, thus destroying the follicle and preventing hair regrowth.
Then, a hand-held light unit is applied next to the skin, targeting the hair follicle, so that the pulses of light can be delivered directly to the hair being removed. The flashes of light safely penetrate the skin, destroying the hair follicles. When the gel is removed the hair is simply wiped away.
Can all hair colors be treated?
The laser hair removal system is designed to customize treatment for various hair colors and is good for any hair with at least some pigment including black, brown, red and even blond. In most cases, laser hair removal can remove all hair colors from all parts of the body.
Does it hurt?
Patients report feeling a slight sting, much like a pinch, during the laser hair removal treatment process.
Are there any side effects?
Side effects from laser hair removal are rare, though some may experience slight redness or swelling which dissipates in several hours. Anesthesia is not required.
