Perlane
Perlane is a dermal filler used in procedures such as liquid lifts and collagen injections. This long-lasting gel is injected under the skin with a fine needle in order to add volume to the skin, plump it, and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. Perlane is comprised of a natural substance known as hyaluronic acid, making it safe to use; your body naturally contains hyaluronic acid, but it becomes depleted with age. Perlane simply supplements your natural hyaluronic acid to give your skin a younger, fuller appearance.
Though quite similar to Restylane, Perlane is meant to be injected much deeper into the skin. The particles of gel in Perlane are larger than those in Restylane (since they contain more hyaluronic acid), and thus is often a better choice for people with particularly deep facial lines.
Perlane injections usually last from six to nine months, depending on the individual’s skin type and medical history. A consultation with a Dr. Man staff member will help you to learn if Perlane is right for your wrinkle reduction, liquid lift, lip augmentation, or other skin rejuvenating procedure.
After your treatment, you might have some swelling, redness, pain, bruising, and tenderness. This will normally last less than seven days. Although rare, red or swollen small bumps may occur. If you have had facial cold sores before, an injection can cause another outbreak. In rare circumstances, the healthcare professional may inject into a blood vessel, which can damage the skin. To avoid bruising or bleeding, you should not use Perlane® if you have recently used drugs that thin your blood or prevent clotting. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, or under 18 years of age, you should not use Perlane®.
Perlane® should not be used by people with previous bad allergies, particularly to certain microorganisms known as gram positive bacteria, by people with previous bad allergies to drugs that have required in-hospital treatment, or by people with bleeding disorders. Perlane® should not be injected anywhere except the skin or just under the skin.
The use of Perlane® at the site of skin sores, pimples, rashes, hives, cysts, or infection should be postponed until healing is complete. Use of Perlane® in these instances could delay healing or make your skin problems worse.
