Body Jet Liposuction
Water-jet assisted liposuction, also called Body Jet, is a totally new liposuction technique and the first of its kind in the United States. A pioneer in advanced liposuction techniques, Dr. Man assisted in the FDA approval of the Body Jet in the U.S.. His paper “Water-Jet Assisted Liposuction” was published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal May/June 2007. Using the Body-Jet device, this revolutionary alternative to traditional liposuction is gentle, fast and effective. Using the flow of water to dislodge fat, this technique is unlike any other, providing many advantages. Using a gentle, pulsating spray of fluid, water-jet assisted liposuction dislodges fat without the brute force used in traditional liposuction procedures. Fat is loosened from connective tissues by the gentle fluid spray and then simultaneously flushed away. This gentle method results in minimal bruising and tissue trauma, while still achieving excellent results.

NEW BODY JET LIPO PROCEDURE FLUSHES FAT CELLS AWAY
“ With Body Jet we no longer have to surgically force or cut fat cells to remove them from the body. Now we can wash (flush) fat cells away.”
-DANIEL MAN, M.D.
Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, Boca Raton, FL
BOCA RATON, FL — Move over liposuction a new procedure called Body Jet, that uses fine streams of water to gently wash fat away, is the latest advancement in liposuction. The procedure, which was recently FDA approved, is gentler and less invasive than traditional liposuction techniques that manually force fat cells from the body.
“Body Jet (Water-Jet Assisted Lipoplasty) is body sculpting at its most precise,” explains Dr. Daniel Man of Boca Raton, who co –authored the paper on the new device entitled “Water-Jet Assisted Liposuction.” It was published in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal last year, and helped to pave the way for FDA approval this past summer.
According to Dr. Man, Body Jet is much more gentle. It’s like a “fat bath’ washing fat cells from the body. Because it can be performed using local anesthetic, patients are up and moving the same day and report minimal discomfort with no pain. Patient Michele Grooms is a believer. “It felt like a body massage. I had no pain and was able to move around the same day and return to work and normal activities in two days.”
How does it work?
The Body Jet pressurized jet spray system uses a controlled pressure system and special cannula to direct a fine stream of water in a thin, fan shaped jet. “The pressurized jet stream loosens the fatty structures much more easily and has a special cannula and computerized software that allows control of the rate of water input and fat output. Because it is more accurate, fat is washed away only from fatty compartments without damaging other important structures like nerves and vessels”, said Dr. Man.
Who can benefit?
Liposuction is the number one cosmetic surgical procedure performed in America. Everyone who wishes to get rid of extra inches and loose fatty tissue, especially around the tummy, arms, neck, back, thighs, hips and buttocks.
Advantages include:
A pressurized jet of water is released from the cannula tip which is strong enough to loosen and separate fat cells without causing trauma to other structures such as nerves, blood vessels and other tissues.
non thermal (no heat damage)
performed under local sedation
minimal bruising and swelling resulting in reduced discomfort or pain
more accuracy and easy patient repositioning during procedure
patients up and moving same day of surgery.
